Posting on Tumblr is like talking to your cat. You don’t know if they are listening, and you don’t know if they care, but for some reason, it still helps.

But what annoys me is when people can’t differentiate between the character and the actor. And people are sort of going ‘I hate that Alfie Allen.’ It’s like, no you don’t hate me because you’ve never met me before, but you’ve seen Theon. So if you hate Theon, that’s cool, but don’t put that hate on me. So that can get a little bit annoying.

For some reason…

…I find photos of people that show their flaws more attractive than ones where they’re all airbrushed and pretty. It’s like, “Oooo, blackheads and a few stray eyebrow hairs - and still sexy!” and I get very happy. That’s all.

Real always wins out over fake.

This is absolutely terrifying. Just look at it, it is so real and astonishing. You need to reblog this. I don’t care if you’re used to reblogging orange, teenage girls with vans on. I don’t care if you’re used to reblogging vintage or photography. This is real. You can even see the fury in his eyes. The tense muscles in between his fingers. The heavy breathing.

We were discussing homosexuality because of an allusion to it in the book we were reading, and several boys made comments such as, “That’s disgusting.” We got into the debate and eventually a boy admitted that he was terrified/disgusted when he was once sharing a taxi and the other male passenger made a pass at him.

The lightbulb went off. “Oh,” I said. “I get it. See, you are afraid, because for the first time in your life you have found yourself a victim of unwanted sexual advances by someone who has the physical ability to use force against you.” The boy nodded and shuddered visibly.

“But,” I continued. “As a woman, you learn to live with that from the time you are fourteen, and it never stops. We live with that fear every day of our lives. Every man walking through the parking garage the same time you are is either just a harmless stranger or a potential rapist. Every time.”

The girls in the room nodded, agreeing. The boys seemed genuinely shocked.

“So think about that the next time you hit on a girl. Maybe, like you in the taxi, she doesn’t actually want you to.”

Yes! Exactly!

Boom. This.

I think part of it is also the idea of being hit on by someone you don’t find sexually attractive. I see it a lot with girls (not all, but quite a few). A man hits on them and they find him rather unattractive, and go on about how creepy this man was who had the AUDACITY to hit on her. Which, by the way, is a compliment. So instead of just accepting it and being polite, they turn to their friends and complain about his creepiness. In some cases they actually ARE being creepers, and in those cases complaining about it is justified. But if he’s just trying to flirt, there’s no reason to be a bitch.

And the same goes with straight men who are being hit on by gay men. It isn’t necessarily that they fear rape - though it might be in some cases. I think they just don’t like being hit on by someone they don’t find physically attractive.

Moral of the story: Unless they are legitimately being creepy assholes, take the fucking compliment.
